Understanding Barriers to Education

At Console Mission, we believe every child deserves the chance to learn. Yet across Nepal, many children—especially girls—face barriers that push them out of school. Through our Research & Innovation initiative, we are investigating these causes to design solutions that keep children in classrooms and strengthen communities.

In several Asian countries, the undervaluing of girls’ education is visible and openly acknowledged. In Nepal, however, the challenge is different: the causes of school dropout are often unseen and unspoken. This silence makes the issue harder to confront, even though its impact is profound.

Console Mission is committed to identifying these hidden drivers—whether rooted in social pressures, mental health gaps, or systemic neglect—and bringing them into focus. While global advocacy campaigns such as Zero Tolerance or Orange the World raise awareness, Nepal still lacks mechanisms that protect those who speak out. Too often, individuals who raise these concerns face consequences, reinforcing the silence.
