Why old age people in tropical places lacks pleasant life

A friend send his mother’s picture as his family are worrying about her health condition.

Tropical areas of Nepal are known as Terai or plain areas where cultivation and farming are favourable. Soils and water are available easily. And people are involved and prioritizes agriculture or working in field. Rice planting is an occasion and people temporarily migrating in other parts with educational and work purposes goes to their house during rice planting season.

Walking barefoot because of hot, eating cow, buffalo or goat products like milk or sweet or butter are popular and seen in this area.

The disturbing and distractions that the Terai people goes through every year is the monsoon season when waters from the hilly regions flows and floods ruins their livelihood and habitat.

Since water surrounds house and roads or walking path are filled with water for long time mosquitoes survives easily. Children enjoys swimming in water though it is unsuitable.

Tools

Different types and different sizes of tools are available in market places where repairs and maintenance paid services are provided. This one is a particular one that we can easily guess. This is not other than in Nepal where such services are many, about 8 that is known to be within this area called Nakhipot. I had this opportunity to capture it in my mobile because the mechanics was away out of the Kathmandu valley to take care of his spouse who became ill. There were two guys age between 15 – 18 taking care of this small business service.

These tools were in its place because they were not used for a while. Lack of mechanics there is no customers and the two guys find at least to do something.

Our projects are also like this without the right person, specifically when it is the case of Health sector, it is most relevant to have at least 3 – 4 years course completed Health person. Currently there are 2 who have completed their academic course and 1 of them have expressed his interest to continue in a full-time position. To manage a full-time position resources is important. Since this Health position will be valuable, full management is essential.

Looking back and even at the current and looking for the future a full-time Health person is necessary. I don’t want to take risks that when mechanic had to urgently go the repairs and services centre is not of any use. Therefore if possible 2 will be necessary, female and male having similar capacity to perform health activities. May be in part time position. However looking the future plan I prefer both gender in full-time position.

Tools just like in its right place are like plans that looks good in reading. But putting it into action requires resources. The important one is human. In a NGO like Console Mission volunteers comes with their own interest and by requesting but for an on going project just like the customers who trust the mechanic, same Health person is relevant for the smoothness and good management.

Study Place

A place where children will get help to do homework. And school for those who don’t go to school. Moreover it will be a symbol in the community for the Children Rights to Education. It is linked with the forced marriage, forced for labour and many social causes linked with children especially girls.

But to reach to cover the need we cannot depend only on locals who are a kind of staff. For it’s continuation people from urban area should go there. But since it is a daily task, teaching children, willingness just doesn’t work. Therefore a tutor needs is most. Since it is a valuable task and it should continue the local volunteers needs training.

The higher grade student going in 10, 11 and 12 who are valuable needs to be developed as a team. There are challenges because of the social viewpoints like some should study and some other should work as a slave for someone.

Social system have drawn a line that though legally rubbed it has not affected or changed the society. And in the rural area these situations, if deeply analysed, are the root causes of social situations like human trafficking.

1 day is like 1000 years, and 1000 years are like 1 day एक दिन हजार वर्ष जस्तै अनि हजार वर्ष एकदिन जस्तै हो

The purpose of this article is to give information about the importance of the Human Trafficking Rally in Nepal. And story about how it was organized last year.

We live in a global world. Migrating with purpose and authority from one country to another is possible. It is not necessary that if one country restricts foreigners, the other country follow the same. I have my own brother and family of my sister in law migrated abroad. I don’t believe that it happens they are also asked to leave the country because they have changed the policy.

Weather 20 October

It was just one day in 2017. The month was October. I say weather was dynamic because it was about to rain, not that hard rain like in July and August. Prediction for October 20, 2018 shows: Partly sunny, a stray shower. When our management team reached the starting point it was cold at 7 am. T-shirt was managed because of the location that is recognized to be popular.

Firstly, it was in the u

rban area, the centre of the town. Secondly, Kathmandu valley is the capital of Nepal. The slogan “Abolish Slavery with Each Step” was translated into the National language हाम्राे प्रत्यक पाइला मानव तस्करी अन्तकाे लागि” for black t-shirt. 300 were printed with white letters both in English and Nepal. It could be used to raise fund but since it was printed in a limited number. And the participants were known to be the school and college age youngsters, mostly girls fixing rate for the t-shirt was not going to work. The other reason is, when such events are organized, organizing team is responsible for the safety, security and logistics matters.

On orientation day a printed paper with 5 pictures and question “do you recognize” was asked to brainstorm the participants. Followed by a video about human trafficking and about 2 more related to the Rally that was in other countries. It really was helpful to get idea about the get-up and walking. It helped the participants to generate ideas to use black tape in mouth. It was later observed as a good idea.

Importance:

  1. This 58 Seconds video reflects the figure of Human Trafficking yearly. (8000 is the total number)

  2. Trafficking for sex and using the victim like material like cutting their skin to use for surgery. And there are many inhumane acts. https://www.google.com.np/amp/s/www.youthkiawaaz.com/2017/03/how-women-from-nepal-are-trafficked-to-india-and-disfigured-to-make-rich-men-and-women-beautiful/amp/ https://www.google.com.np/amp/s/theamnesty.org/2017/03/17/the-skin-trade-a-growing-and-gruesome-crime/amp/
  3. Raising voice together in a global world is relevant and meaningful. That is a part of humanity and truly respecting the cause. Because trafficking is a cross border issue.

Why third world

Since 1998 – 1999 I stayed in a little developmentally better country than Nepal though I was living a westerners or better life in every parts of life. After that for 2000 until 2004 better than that. And after living 5 years in Nepal I went to England from where I returned in January 2013.

“Nepal is a third world country”, “we live in a third world country”. These sentences were hovering in my mind. But yesterday after returning from a small meeting with one person from the U.K. I stopped for air for my motorbike tyre. A boy age below 12 said that it is punctured. He told that it needs to be replaced or if leaked may be maintained. After checking by putting tube in water it was not possible that it could be done without changing tube. So I told to change it. But as this small and other little bigger than him was active in it, I asked the adult that who is this small guy. He said he is the owner. Surprisingly I said really and told even if he should not be doing that. He said he is his brother but that was not true. When these two guys was fitting tube inside and re-joining it into motorbike, I took video because the adult guy was gone somewhere. As I was taking video suddenly third world sentence stroke my mind saying that’s why I am living in a third world country where school is free of cost but children are working as house keeper, waiter in restaurant, taking care of infants, collecting fare in local bus and working in factories and workshops.

This motorbike service shop is located in the market place and Army’s camp is also nearby, no one speaks for other. This is why Nepal is a third world country needs to learn humanity.

Study on Human Trafficking in Nepal (January 2018 – Mid June 2018)

I have been focusing to study last 6 months stories related to Human Trafficking. Moreover I would like to call Modern Days Slavery (that contents: (1) sexual exploitation trafficking, (2) forced slave labor, (3) bonded labor, (4) involuntary domestic servitude, (5) and child soldiery). Particularly looking at domestic i.e. Sex trafficking, forced labor, bonded labor and involuntary domestic servitude.

MDS

Translated from A21 Movement by Console Mission/ Dilasha Aviyan 2017 as authorised.

Before my study:

  1. Literally various types of as mentioned above 5-types (there are more – A21) are not particularly not known.
  2. As it is not viewed by differentiating, acting to stop it is not strong. However I don’t want to reflect in action, my focus is “why it has not been stopped”
  3. Beside this, various organisations have not developed a mechanism to work together or not?
  4. Patrolling the border might be not necessary compare to focusing in the local or domestic level.
  5. In 3 topics: Sex trafficking, forced labor, bonded labor and involuntary domestic servitude, I will be looking at domestic level (i.e. happening inside the country Nepal). Girls coming from rural for one purpose but exploited sex business, working in restaurant, children brought in urban for education but working in house or restaurant/ adult male or female paying debt as servant in urban areas and manual or labor worker paid low than normal respectively.

Team Building

As a Project Executive, my role has been contributing the continuation of the development of Console Mission by developing projects that brings changes. Therefore following guidelines is important that is developed to practise during the implementation of the project activities.

Moreover Human Resources is always challenging and higher priority for me. And I think it is most important in the areas of Health to have authentic.

Besides this activities, factors that directs towards the regularity even after the end of the project not only suits Console Mission but it is the gateway to get pass to manage projects either in the village communities, urban slum settlement/ urban religiously bounded on own culture and tradition or at the Shelter Homes or at schools.

Healthy Life and Water

When I am writing about the facilities of water in Choughare, it is better to remember dry and desert of Saharan and Sub-Saharan Africa. Because there are no sources of water, it is a whole day work to bring carrying on back.

At least it is just 30 minutes x 2 way for the household located nearer to the availability of water. The source are far located passing jungles and hills.

However either in desert or dry area or like tihis village of about 422 – 450 households, facilities does matter for hygiene, sanitation/ healthy environment and good drinking water.

Whether in Health Club Meeting or during Training related to Preventive Health, water has been the primary problem.

(water comes for 15 to 30 minutes in this public tap dependent by 10 – 12 households)

Health Club

A Health Club could be a sustainable preventive health solution. A established community group in the community could be fruitful and play an important role to establish a team like Health Club.

Less member, illiteracy and social distractions are the causes that specific training to the specific people is challenging. We need to work together by brining everyone as a part of the community.

We have 2 solutions that we are going to try:

  1. Taking opportunity during the time that they meet.
  2. Building relation with the faith-based or known impact groups by visiting and calling for the training.

Prayer points:

– The leader of the faith-based 2 communities of Chaughare changes their decision made during the meeting later after they reach back to the village.

– Though activities are planned well like setting date and whole management for the activities, they could not stick with the plan.
