Theory of Change
Console Mission’s project is designed to transform the educational journey of vulnerable students migrating to urban centers, particularly Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
Problem:
Students from rural areas often live in rented rooms, hostels, or with relatives, where they lack proper study environments, resources, and guidance. Financial hardship and peer pressure push many toward unsafe work or migration abroad, weakening Nepal’s human resource base.
Inputs:
- Safe housing through the Self-Managed Home.
- Peer learning and study resources at Our Study Place.
- Career-oriented interactions and mentorship.
- Committees formed across 29 colleges and 29 wards of Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
- Partnerships with local schools, alumni, and community leaders.
Activities:
- Provide free study spaces and resources for students living in hostels, rented rooms, or with relatives.
- Organize regular interactions to build career orientation and self-confidence.
- Offer mentorship and psychosocial support to guide students through challenges.
- Engage colleges and ward offices in participatory governance.
Outputs:
About 300–500 students will access safe study environments, mentorship, and career guidance. Vulnerable youth will be supported to stay in Nepal rather than migrate abroad.
Outcomes:
Students gain confidence, resilience, and career direction. Colleges begin to see their mission as producing not only graduates but compassionate, capable citizens.
Impact:
Nepal strengthens its quality human resources, reducing dropout and unsafe migration, and contributing to overcoming its Least Developed Country status by investing in human assets.
This integrated model ensures sustainability by embedding community participation and aligning with local educational institutions.
