World Humanitarian Day
An elder mother, devastated by earthquake, 2015, Nepal, made a temporary house in her land where she grew vegetables and grains. In the south part of Lalitpur district of Nepal all human’s made infrastructures were fallen down and damaged. Still, they are living a life in confusions. People rebuilt their house in same place or close to the previous one, but they were not got migrated.

What is World Humanitarian Day?
“A day that binds human together” – Console Mission. To think about human casualties happening and possible threats. To help those in need.
Background
On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. Five years later, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution designating 19 August as World Humanitarian Day (WHD).
Each year, WHD focuses on a theme, bringing together partners from across the humanitarian system to advocate for the survival, well-being and dignity of people affected by crises, and for the safety and security of aid workers.
What is the purpose of World Humanitarian Day?
World Humanitarian Day is a reminder of the selflessness and dedication of the people who have paid the ultimate price.
Why is it celebrated?
Based on background, it was in the memory of those ‘humanitarian workers’ who were killed.
Why it concerns Console Mission (CM)?
- Before 2015, earthquake in April, CM coordinated to rescue mainly women and girls from the street of Kathmandu valley. And found place for them where suitable.
- During flood some faith-based leader from one plain area of the country requested for relief and mosquito nets were provided.
What is the plan? Or, looking for the future?
- There are wars going on and many wars have been within the countries. Like the war between Ukraine and Russia is the ward between the country. And the war between the military junta and various ethnic rebel groups – The Burma Civil War. In one part of India, from April the violence between the majority Meitei and Kuki communities. And borders conflicts are always in tense situation, always one or more soldier casualty is in news. Raising Voice by participating the activities against and based on the availability of the resources and need, organise effective public events.
- Since Flood is every year, CM is focusing on study result solution that will not affect lives. And since prone to Earthquake CM must focus in this area. CM have reached to the most affected and epicenters, people and community recognizes the concern. It is better to have organize at least monthly session. Starting from the closest rural village community.
Conclusions
It is possible that similar incident could happen – when we help someone that may be disliked or offensive to someone other. Therefore, the day or the celebration helps to remember and be alert, plan and act.
